. Painted corn is extremely cold and drought tolerant for a corn. This corn was developed in Montana by Dave Christensen over the past 30 years from over 1000 native and commercial strains of corn. Painted Mountain corn grows about 5' tall producing ears about 7" long.
Painted Mountain makes very tasty cornmeal for muffins, cornbread or chips. This corn can also be eaten fresh or roasted in the early "milk" stage. Painted Mountain corn seed has an amazing level of protein at 13%. Dave says when he has no plants down from wind and it is hand harvested he can get 105 bu/acre! Excellent for an OP corn.
